Group Sessions

Year 4 and Year 5 children

Running every Monday throughout the Summer holidays from 9.30-11.30 in Borough Green Village Hall, TN15 8BJ.

Group sessions allow up to 10 children to be able to work together through games and challenges to learn skills and strategies in order to answer questions confidently on their own. Content will taught and modelled and then children will be given time to learn through a game followed by applying their knowledge to exam style questions.

Content covered:

  • Maths

  • English

  • Verbal Reasoning

  • Non-Verbal Reasoning

  • Spatial Reasoning

Follow up emails will be provided to every parent and carer after each session so that they are able to understand what has been covered and how each child has got on.

2 Hour sessions for £50, payable before each session.

Empower their growing minds

Within group settings children feel more comfortable, confident and are more likely to engage with the material. Having children that are likeminded and have similar aspirations for their education means that they work well and support each other. 1:1 time will be spent with each child during their sessions which is why we limit space to 10 for each slot.

I

Maths

Covering a range of topics within the test that typically children find challenging from fractions, decimals and percentages to algebra.

Verbal Reasoning

Verbal Reasoning mainly involves reasoning with words. This includes production of words, use of words and relationships between words. Some questions involve reasoning with letters and numbers; these question types are not testing mathematics, but use letters and numbers as symbols to predict, for example, a sequence or relationship.

Spatial Reasoning

Spatial reasoning forms part of the Non -Verbal Reasoning paper and is the ability to identify and manipulate shapes in your head. Identify nets of shapes and how shapes may look from above.

English

Through games with peers and specifically taught material, children will strengthen their skills in word classes and punctuation to drawing information out of a text to answer questions. Our activities are designed to keep your child engaged, motivated and confident.

Non-Verbal Reasoning

Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR) mainly involves reasoning with abstract figures. For some questions you might look at relationships between shapes and sequences of shapes, by identifying common features from a set of figures and applying them to a new figure. Some NVR question types involve codes, in which features of a shape have to be matched with a letter.
